Review by hotel critic
During a recent unexpected stay in Calama, my mother and I found refuge at Hotel Quitor, nestled conveniently across from the plaza. Arriving just after midnight, we were greeted warmly by the night staff, which instantly soothed our travel-weary spirits. Our room, while basic, was clean and equipped with a manual heater and a private bathroom featuring hot water-critical amenities that made our brief stay comfortable. The next morning, we indulged in an American breakfast served in a bright common area overlooking the captivating colonial architecture of the plaza. The flat-screen TV and free WiFi throughout the hotel were appreciated conveniences, particularly for travelers like us who rely on connectivity for planning the next leg of our journey. I regard Hotel Quitor as an ideal choice for those seeking safe, no-frills lodging in a central location-perfect for exploring the surrounding historical sites or recuperating after travel disruptions. Though lacking the bells and whistles of more luxurious accommodations, it offered precisely what we needed: security, cleanliness, and a dose of local charm. In the grand tapestry of travel, such places are often the unsung heroes.
